Synth Rider: 3D Highway Engine
High-speed cyberpunk highway simulation featuring mathematical 3D perspective projection, lateral momentum physics, procedural Web Audio arcade soundscapes, and Wikipedia Action API batch streaming.
Building Synth Rider demonstrated the efficiency of mathematical perspective projection on a 2D canvas, transforming depth coordinates and camera height into a high-speed pseudo-3D highway without the overhead of heavy 3D game engines. Integrating the Web Audio API underscored how procedural waveform synthesis can replace static sound files to deliver zero-latency reactive acoustic feedback synchronized with vehicle speed and highway events. Managing live Wikipedia Action API batch requests highlighted the necessity of non-blocking asynchronous data pipelines with fallback buffering to ensure continuous framerates during fast gameplay. Ultimately, the project validated that combining decoupled physics loops with browser-native APIs yields authentic arcade responsiveness across diverse devices.
